My first Red Velvet Cake!


Impress takkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk??? haha tapi one thing, dia agak padat, tak moist, nape eyh? kurang baking powder or? whyyyyy??? Anyone can help me? I take sure, this my 2nd cake that I ever bake!!! :p :p :p so agak ketinggalan dalam babe2 baking nie :D

Tapi rase umppppphh, boleh la untuk first timer!

  2. ada few possibilities yg menyebabkan kek kurang naik ;p
    mentega, gula + telur tak pukul secukupnya or tsilap suhu oven

    tp as long as rasa sedap xpeee :D

  7. Wah impressive Nadia! Good job for a 1st timer!I ni yang berkali2 buat kek masih tak berani nak buat velvet kek ni. Nigella cakap kalau nak buat kek moist letak sour cream. Cuba lah 2, 3 sudu besar next time! Happy weekend!

  8. I just made some Red Velvet Cake too :-)
    But mine is not as red as yours. I used eggs, buttermilk & vegetable oil for the liquid. They are pretty moist.

    If it doesn't rise that much, it could be that the baking powder has expired. You can check it's freshness by sprinkling the baking powder in the water, and it should bubbles. Or if you use baking soda, you need to have acid (i.e. Vinegar) to interact with it.

  13. T: maybe my buttermilk kurang kottt you, i should put extra I guess for next time :D put you pictureee plissss :D heheh nak tengok! :D My baking powder baru je beli a day before i baut cake, so maybe bukan kot :) i did put lemon juice replacing vinegar, ok ke?

  14. You can see mine on my blog. I used boxed-mix as the base though. Also, you have to look really-really deep to see the red on mind.

    Maybe you didn't beat long enough kot sebab tu tak naik. Or oven temperature tak betul. Otherwise, I really can't think of anything else. Kalau you used baking soda, it could be tak cukup acid reaction. Tapi you guna baking powder, so that cannot be the issue.

    But don't give up! Baking is fairly straight forward. If you follow the direction to the T, usually you can expect consistent result. But accidents do happen, but when that happened you can just destroy the evidence as easily :-P
